“This evening is like a reflection of your present circumstances, Yellow Raven,” Lord Genki said with a smile.
Yukiya’s eyebrow twitched. “What do you mean by that?”
“Under your leadership, we are entering a period of prosperity unlike any that have come before. There is not a single cloud in the sky, and there is not a single shadow cast upon the future of Yamauchi.”
“Indeed. It is fitting to compare our current circumstances to the full moon,” Yukiya said.
Lord Genki appeared supremely pleased with himself.
Yukiya gave his maternal uncle a cordial smile.
Later, he said goodbye to Lord Genki, who departed in high spirits. He sighed.
Tonight marked the pinnacle of Yamauchi’s glory.
The moon was full and at its highest point in the sky. It was so vast and bright that it was nearly as dazzling as the sun. The moon’s reflection bathed in the quiet lake in the evening, ethereally beautiful like something from a fantasy world.
Yukiya looked up at the moon and said, “After the moon waxes full, it can only wane…”
