Dramatis Personae

Kadono Shiho: A high school student living in Tokyo with her grandmother. Her parents died in a traffic accident.

Mountain god: Master of the mountain god’s realm on Mt. Ara. He demands human sacrifices from the people of Sannai Village.

Ōzaru: A divine messenger who serves the mountain god. He devours humans.

Nazukihiko: A divine messenger who serves the mountain god. A true Golden Raven and leader of the Yatagarasu.

Tanimura Masaru: A man who stays near Sannai Village during the summer months.

Hisano: Thirty-seven years ago, she fled Sannai Village, taking her daughter Yumiko with her. She left her son, Shūichi, behind.

Masuho no Susuki: Nazukihiko’s cousin. She looks after Kadono Shiho while they are in the mountain god’s realm.
