Dramatis Personae
Nazukihiko: Crown Prince and true Golden Raven. He leads the Yatagarasu.
Yukiya: Formerly served as Nazukihiko’s personal attendant and graduated at the top of his class at the Keisōin. Became one of the Yamauchishu, an Imperial Guard, in Nazukihiko’s service. His grandfather is Genya, Lord of Hokke and General of the Aerial Army of Heaven.
Masuho no Susuki: First Duchess of Saike, a peerless beauty and Nazukihiko’s cousin. She once aspired to become Nazukihiko’s bride, but renounced worldly power of her own accord and became Hamayū’s lady-in-waiting.
Hamayū: Nazukihiko’s wife. A Duchess of Nanke, tall and brash. During her early childhood, she was stripped of her rank and lived as a commoner for some years.
Natsuka: Nazukihiko’s half-brother and head priest of Clear Mirror Temple. He relinquished his claim on the imperial throne in favor of his younger brother, but his mother, the Empress Oumurasaki, still plots to make him the next emperor and sends assassins after Nazukihiko.
Rokon: Natsuka’s personal guard; he is also a priest affiliated with Clear Mirror Temple.
Sumio: Nazukihiko’s personal guard. He is a member of the Yamauchishu. He was born a commoner, but his great talent propelled him to the top of his class at the Keisōin.
Shigemaru: A member of the Yamauchishu. A close friend of Yukiya since his days at the Keisōin. He has a large build and a gentle personality. He is well-liked by everyone.
Akeru: Nazukihiko’s personal attendant and the younger brother of Masuho no Susuki. He attended the Keisōin with Yukiya, but dropped out before graduation.
Chihaya: A member of the Yamauchishu. Taciturn and unfriendly. During his days at the Keisōin, he and his younger sister were driven to hardship by their classmate Kimichika and others.
Ichiryū: Yukiya’s senior and a member of the Yamauchishu. During his days at the Keisōin, he shared a room with Yukiya, Shigemaru, and Chihaya.
Haruma: Yukiya’s junior and a member of the Yamauchishu. During his days at the Keisōin, he was kidnapped by the Kuisaru and was rescued shortly after.
